Derbyshire Youth Projects Trust

Welcome to the Derbyshire Youth Projects Trust

The Trust is, in a way, a continuation of what was the Derbyshire Dales Youth Music and Drama Group, which itself had developed from the Derbyshire Dales Youth Choir, established, under the patronage of the Duchess of Devonshire, in 2009.

There are three Trustees plus an Honorary Treasurer and an Honorary Secretary. Neither Trustees, Treasurer or Secretary are paid, nor do they receive any expenses for attending meetings and giving their time. Whilst there clearly are expenses in running any charity, these are largely material, such as envelopes, printing, the occasional hire of a venue for a project and of course our collection boxes (which was a one-off cost at the start.) It is our intention to try to avoid the need for any paid staff at all.

The Trust was grateful to gain the Duchess’s permission to use the remaining funds that she had provided for the Drama Group to set up the new charity, and these, together with the first few donations that we received after our formation, amounted to almost £2500 – a sum which we have now steadily increased. The Duchess has kindly agreed to be the Patron of the DYPT.

A message from our Patron
the Duchess of Devonshire

“I am delighted to be Patron of the Derbyshire Youth Projects Trust and wish its trustees and supporters every success in their work to help the most disadvantaged young people in our community.“

Amanda Devonshire

Our purpose

“…to advance such charitable purposes (according to the law of England and Wales) as the trustees see fit from time to time, in particular but not limited to organizing and/or funding extra-curricular, educational projects for the benefit of disadvantaged young people up to the age of eighteen in Derbyshire and aiding the families of young people with mental or physical health problems, by providing grants or awards for such projects or to such families”.
